Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide growth hormone secretagogue that selectively activates the growth hormone secretagogue receptor 1a (GHS-R1a). In studies using anesthetized rats and primary rat pituitary cell cultures, researchers examined its potency for growth-hormone release relative to GHRP-6, reporting comparable magnitude of GH output; unlike GHRP-6 and GHRP-2 in the same experiments, ipamorelin did not elevate ACTH or cortisol beyond levels seen with GHRH stimulation. A separate rat study reported that repeated administration of ipamorelin was associated with longitudinal bone-growth markers. Ipamorelin has not completed human clinical trials and holds no regulatory approval for any use.
